So no you're totes not hurting anything by living in the modern world by not eating meat. Because as long as you don't eat meat but use everything else that an animal died for, that's a-okay right?

You're not changing anything! The dairy and egg industry is way too entangled with the meat industry. Just think about it:
Dairy Industry:
1. A cow is raped (forcefully impregnated) so that it can produce milk.
2. The cow gives birth.
Outcome one:
The calf is a female, so it goes the same path as her mother, and is raped to produce milk.
Outcome two:
The calf is a male, and sent to the meat farm to become meat.
I don't know the details of the egg industry, but you can find all of the details.
